Why Ellen?

We selected Ellen DeGeneres because we feel she can bring much more than fame to the UC Davis campus. Ellen DeGeneres is a humorous, inspirational, ground-breaking role model for countless individuals. She inspires people of many different backgrounds to lead better lives and brings out the best in the world. She is not only a comedienne and talk-show host, she is a humanitarian. Through her show and celebrity she is able to better the lives of struggling communities and individuals. Daily she brings laughter to countries all over the world and is a shining example of perseverance for minority groups. Her love of animals is evident in her charitable contributions and support of animal-related organizations just as UC Davis’ love of animals is evident by its environment and top-rated animal-related academic and research programs. Ellen DeGeneres is a sure-fit for the UC Davis campus and could greatly inspire the entire UC Davis community.
